Guilt, shame, disappointment are feelings that keep us away from God. They build a wall between us and our father and they come from making mistakes, falling short, and imperfection. But what if I told you that God loves your imperfection and everything that comes with it? In Romans 5:8, it says “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. It wasn’t like, we were perfect, living righteous and so God said hey my people have earned this, so I’m going to sacrifice my only son so that he can always be with them and cleanse them if they were ever to fall short. No. It was that we were imperfect and STILL God loves us so much that he said; I will sacrifice my only son so that he can cleanse them EVERY single time they fall short. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” - Ephesians 2:8-9. Our good work; doesn’t earn grace. Our wrong doings, does not take away grace. The enemy doesn’t have much power, but controlling our feelings is one of not many that he does have. When we mess up as Christians we feel like we failed and we feel so inclined to throw in the towel. Throwing in the towel is what the enemy wants NOT what God wants for you. God just wants you to bring the trouble that he already saw coming to him. Confess it and leave it with him. Falling into the sin and trying to recover from it is hard. Two days ago, i found myself falling into sin and was feeling like it was the end of the world for me. I felt like there was no recovering from it and i beat myself up about it badly for a couple of hours because it was a mistake that I could never take back. God was there to remind me.. “you can’t take back your mistakes, but I won’t take back the mercy and love that i give to you every single time. Truth is, we are going to mess up. We are going to sin. We are going to fall short. We are going to get lost. Your faith in God, the fixation of your eyes on him will always bring you back home. Lastly, going back home won’t always be easy. But you know... nothing worth having, comes easy. Stick to the fight.
